Charles Severance is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the School of Information at the University of Michigan; he has also taught Computer Science at Michigan State University. Charles also works with the IMS Global Learning Consortium as the IMS Developer Network Coordinator. Previously he was the Executive Director of the Sakai Foundation and the Chief Architect of the Sakai Project (www.sakaiproject.org). "Using Google App Engine von Charles Severance ist das Buch, auf das alle, die mit Googles Cloud experimentieren wollen, gewartet haben. Es ist ein Buch für Anfänger und setzt daher keinerlei Kenntnisse voraus. So werden in eigenen Kapiteln erklärt, wie das Netz resp. das HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP) funktioniert, was HTML und CSS sind, was ein Cloud im Allgemeinen und Googles Cloud im Besonderen ist und auch eine Kurzeinführung in Python ist enthalten. Das macht durchaus Sinn und man merkt dem Buch an, das es aus einer Vorlesungsreihe für "students with very limited technical background" entstanden ist. Das ist kein Nachteil, das Buch ist didaktisch gut aufgebaut und der Autor versteht, witzig und unterhaltsam zu schreiben.[...]Alles in allem ist Using Google App Engine ein unverzichtbares Buch für alle, die wissen wollen, wie Googles Cloud funktioniert und das Grundlagenwerk für die, die Googles App Engine tatsächlich nutzen wollen.
