She studied art at Heatherley's School of Fine Art in London and later at the Royal Academy of Arts, where she met her husband, Montague Barstow, with whom she collaboratively illustrated books. Baroness Orczy's literary career bloomed with her famous novel 'The Scarlet Pimpernel' (1905), which was subsequently followed by a series of sequels. Her writing style is characterized by adventure, romance, and a flair for historical settings, often revolving around aristocracy and high society. Another work of the Baroness, 'Unravelled Knots' (1925), continues her legacy of suspense and mystery, echoing her nuanced character development and dramatic storytelling.
