Her responsibilities also included serving the community on boards and committees. Her writing and photography received numerous awards from the Arkansas Press Association. An award winning Arkansas Master Economics Teacher, she has presented workshops at a number of national Economic Council conferences, teaching educators how to integrate the teaching of economics in their classrooms. She was chosen to participate in an Economic Study Tour of Eastern Europe, where she and other educators visited schools in Lviv, Ukraine, observing how educators there utilized curriculum materials of the United States Council for Economic Education. Mrs. Evans has also worked with other educators in curriculum development for teaching economics and science. A captain in Civil Air Patrol, the auxiliary of the United States Air Force, she has worked with CAP cadet programs serving youth ages 12-18. This program teaches youth leadership skills, aerospace education and moral leadership. An ardent animal lover, Mrs. Evans worked to establish an animal shelter in her hometown, and with her husband, Wayne, fostered dogs and puppies until they could be adopted out to loving homes. She lives on a small farm in southeast Arkansas with her husband, four goats, three dogs, an African clawed frog, and lots of wild critters. She has grandchildren in Arkansas and Iowa and loves to shop with her girls. When she has the time and money, she loves to fly in a small two seat Cessna. "Life is for living, and I have been blessed with wonderful and exciting experiences that I hope to continue to share with my extended families and friends."
