Autorenporträt
At age seven, I won my first writing award: a three-foot-long fire truck with an ear-splitting siren. I've been addicted to writing ever since. As an independent researcher, freelance writer, and lecturer, I indulge my curiosity and share my delight in a variety of topics. Recent art-related books include Innovators in Sculpture and Innovators in Painting, Artist-Entrepreneurs, and Getting More Enjoyment from Sculpture You Love. Sam Roberts in the New York Times called my Outdoor Monuments of Manhattan (New York University Press, 2007) "a perfect walking-tour accompaniment to help New Yorkers and visitors find, identify and better appreciate statues famous and obscure." I post art-related material regularly on YouTube and Instagram, and send out weekly recommendations to my mailing list. Starry Solitudes is a collection of 98 poems from the Sunday Recommendations. To join the email list, visit https://diannedurantewriter.com/sunday-recommendations .In the realm of history, I've published Timeline 1900-2021 and Central Park: The Early Years, as well as five volumes on Alexander Hamilton: Alexander Hamilton: A Brief Biography; Alexander Hamilton: A Friend to America, volumes 1-2; Alexander Hamilton and the Reynolds Affair; and Financial Programs of Alexander Hamilton. My website, https://diannedurantewriter.com/ , has hundreds of posts on sculpture (especially outdoor sculpture in New York City), painting, Central Park, and favorite works from museums.
