Autorenporträt
The author grew up in a rural community in a corner of the world where Kentucky meets Virginia. Fireflies were called "lightning bugs," the call for supper was the ringing of the dinner bell, not the ringing of a cell phone, a favorite meal was pinto beans, wilted lettuce with green onions, cornbread and a glass of buttermilk. Kids played up and down the "holler" until dark with no worries. She attended a one room school for the first eight years, then walked out of the "holler" to ride the bus across the state line to Virginia for the next four years of high school. She had a passion for learning and went on to earn a master's degree in elementary education. She taught school for thirty (30) years before retiring. She has written many songs, poems and stories before deciding to write "feel good" books for children dealing with issues that may upset their life, such as feelings of abandonment, anger or anxieties. Her first published book, The Little Boy and The Tiny Yellow Kitten was a story dealing with anxieties. She and her husband live in east Tennessee. She has two (2) beautiful daughters and three (3) grandsons who are the delight of her life. She is also blessed to have a bonus family including two stepsons, their wives, three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
