He is author of the bestselling middle-grade readers' book Jelani's Key (jelaniskey.com), the novel The Savion Sequence (thesavionsequence.com), and the upcoming novel Mirroring Lincoln: The Cursed Existence of Paschal Beverly Randolph. Amari is creator/writer/coproducer of the 2012-2014 web series The Book Look; writer/coproducer of the 2016 film Edge of the Pier; scriptwriter for the 2023 documentary Global Assignment: The Life and Times of Dr. Runoko Rashidi; and Senior Writer for Black Art In America.
