The Reluctant President, Bellwether Bob

You too can become President of the United States! You have the qualifications. You have the knowledge. Look at recent history. Couldn't you do just as well or better?

If an orphan from Nome, Alaska can find himself as POTUS, why not you? He starts in Nome, travels to Anchorage and then on to Washington, D.C.

Yes, Bellwether Bob was a large fish in a small pond. Well … a medium fish is a small pond. He did alright for himself as a performing comic and panning the beaches of Nome for gold. But he just felt there had to be something more. Haven't you thought the same thing at times? Well, there was for Bellwether Bob. With his support staff of nephew Albert, Aunt Mary, the Governor and that pretty blond bartender, he made some worthwhile changes for our country.

Would you have made the same decisions as Bellwether Bob? Would you have rode a nuclear-powered submarine and added another state to our union? I bet you would!

Nephew Albert said it best when he described his uncle's comic routine, as a combination of "that real old guy, Bob Newhart and that guy on the Red Green Show [Steve Smith]." If you enjoy these two characters, you'll love Bellwether Bob!

See how many political and Hollywood spoofs you can detect. It's an easy and fun read!

Autorenporträt
Robert Alan Haviland was born and raised in Connecticut. After serving in the Army Infantry, he settled in Alaska and work again for the Army, but as a civilian.

It was during his time in Alaska he met his wife-to-be, Jewel Petersen, a native of Hawaii, who also chose to call Alaska home. Sadly, Jewel passed in 2021 and he stayed in what they both considered their home state.

A close friend, giving him encouragement, told him to just write about what he knows. Thus, many of the people in his books are "inspired" by people he knows. Many of the adventures actually happened, but names and places have been altered to protect the guilty.

He continues to live in Anchorage, Alaska, and considers himself fortunate to have traveled extensively in both Alaska and Hawaii. As he learned to appreciate, especially as he grew older, everyone has a story behind them. We are indeed fortunate.
