Jack Walker begins life as a visually impaired child. He can see just enough to read with a strong magnifying glass. His one main mission as a child and teenager is the stop the bullying of vulnerable children. Jack's sexual exploits as a young man result in the birth of Jacob, the light of his life.

A highlight of his life is his marriage to Jennifer his childhood friend when he loses touch with Jakob's mother. His journey takes him from being a helpless, bullied, blind teenager to the leader of an invincible gang that he calls The Protectors. En route he develops some very special skills. He relies upon his powerful dog, Merk, as well as his magnificent gang and his special skills.

The first paragraph in the book sums up Jack's anxieties. "Am I paranoid or does my mission in life attract enemies? I have concluded that both are true. My bedtime ruminations always focus on a vengeful gunman. I am not frightened of death, but the thought of an assassin's bullet does scare me". Fortunately, Jack has a Buddhist Guru who helps him to cope with these ruminations and also develop his special skills

Autorenporträt
Dr Ray Hodgson is an Associate Professor in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. He is a specialist gynaecology surgeon and obstetrician based in Australia. After discovering the appalling state of women's health in Nepal in 2010, he founded the humanitarian organisation Australians for Women's Health. Several times each year he organises teams of volunteers to join him on medical camps to remote regions of Nepal where they provide surgical care to underprivileged women in need. Throughout their camps, the team provide extensive teaching to local doctors, nurses, and midwives. Dr Ray's latest project is to construct a Mothers and Babies Hospital in remote Nepal where they can base their life-changing work. All profits from the sale of Heartbreak in the Himalayas will fund the construction of the hospital. For more information or donations to the hospital project, see: www.A4WH.org.
