Produktbeschreibung
Offering a recap of the tumultuous times and events citizens have lived through since Korea, The Metta Way: the Western Path of Lovingkindness, by author George Hondruk, shares how we can arrive together at a new spiritual framework for life on this planet, through an enlightened democracy and the Metta-Seva Way. Hondruk narrates the story of his life and times, woven within the seminal events of the Cold War, Civil Rights, his sexual naivete and confusion about what manhood should be, the war in Indochina, the peace movement, his retreat to normalcy, his stirring of spirit, the opioid epidemic, and the major figures of those times with whom he interacted. He tells how he discovered the Metta-Seva Way, a better way of living with lovingkindness as the base thought and emotion, with selfless service following naturally. Hondruk identifies it as our successful species survival tool. The Metta Way: the Western Path of Lovingkindness delivers the message that equality comes through diversity and inclusion and is both the history and destination of democracy, America, and all of us.

Autorenporträt
George was born to first generation Immigrants: His grandparents on his Dad's side were mixed European, and on his Mom's side were from Ireland. Dad settled in NYC after the war and met Mom there through a paternal relative. The Hondruks moved to New Jersey when George was seven; George is a product of a catholic family and the catholic schools, served in the Army during Vietnam, and married his first wife right after college, taking a position in transportation of people and freight with her dad's company in Connecticut, where they subsequently had two delightful daughters. After that marriage fell apart George met whom was to be his second wife, a very spiritual part indigenous lady. His spiritual growth and journey began then, and they subsequently moved to Vermont, where he again worked in the people and freight-moving business, and then as a registrar and health worker at the regional hospital. He and Maya became Reiki and EFT Tapping practitioners. George's oldest daughter moved up with him, subsequently became locked into substance misuse, and passed away 11 years later from 'being addicted to addiction. From that point on (Y2K, New Years of '99-2000, George and Maya became a vital cog in the state's attempts to deal with Substance Abuse. May passed away Aug.12, 2019 from COPD after we moved to Rochester to be near her granddaughter for the final curtain. Maya suffered from COPD from 2002 to her death, and George was her caretaker right up until her passing at 11:11 PM. George subsequently moved back to Vermont 'to be with his tribe', and to this day is still involved in dealing with SUD on several Boards and with the local Recovery Center he helped found. George just recently retired from his Reiki-EFT business. Life is good and the cup is still half full. We are AllOne!
