Ramnath Subramanian has published 11 novels and several books of essays and poetry. He was a columnist for the El Paso Times, writing a weekly column on educational and cultural topics for 20 years. He also worked as an astronomer and lecturer at the Birla Planetarium in Calcutta, India, and at the Science Museum in London, England.
