The story of a young man named Guillermo Correces who was a self-supporting student at Philippine Union College now Adventist University of the Philippines; and with a willingness to succeed; finished his degree in teaching but due to Gods over arching plan for his life, he was led into a full-time career of drafting and building schools and institutions for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Philippines. He managed to start up with a blueprint of the Philippine Publishing House , then was called to teach at West Visayan Academy where he was enabled to utilize his skills in drafting and construction to upgrade and erect new infrastructure for the Academy and from there his continued calls led him to Mindanao and build a hospital and Mountain View College was built from the forests of MVC and before his retirement he was part of the growth of the South Philippine Union Conference as it envisioned new directions in education and medicine by building the Davao Adventist Hospital and the South Philippine Union Conference headquarters and in parallel started the development of the now existing South Philippine Adventist College in Managa and it included the planning and the survey of the Adventist University of the Philippines in 1975.

Gilbert Loyola Correces graduated with an MSW from the University of the Philippines through a Lewis Lim Scholarship. When he immigrated to Canada, he upgraded himself with EDP and computer programming at York University Continuing Education Programme and worked with the government and private sector in Information Technology as a Business Analyst and Systems Coordinator. He has also past experience teaching high school and Elementary School. Before retirement he worked as a Medical Caseworker and as a private practitioner RSW counsellor. He is currently retired and lives in the City of Toronto, Canada. He enjoys biking, writing and looking after one of his 8 grandchildren.
