“My stomach heaved. My ears buzzed. I felt the blood drain from my face, and I had difficulty refraining from retching. So he still lived!”

Jack's short stint as a soldier in Afghanistan comes to an abrupt end under suspicious circumstances, and he leaves, traumatized and guilt-stricken. While trying to overcome depression and rebuild his confidence, he is unwittingly caught up in the shady world of illegal bearer bonds, underhand business dealings, money laundering and kidnap, and becomes a suspect in a murder and robbery.

He finds himself entangled with three dangerous and beautiful women, while hunted by a ruthless gangster who believes he has certain documents stolen in the robbery, and is threatened by a sinister figure from his past, who should have been dead. He is a marked man, and is forced to rely upon his military training to stay alive, while he tries to clear himself, and prove his innocence.

Interwoven with sexual exploits, the gripping and explosive action is filled with twists and turns that will keep the reader guessing until the end. Is the solution to the mystery, and his acquisition of millions of dollars as straightforward as it seems? What is his lover's ulterior motive? What is his?
Autorenporträt
Like the protagonist of The Death That Wasn't, Colin has been something of a Jack of all trades. He has been at different times a business owner, a farmer, investor, business publisher and entrepreneur. Of direct relevance to The Death That Wasn't, he has lived in dangerous situations, (sleeping many nights with a gun under his pillow); he has dipped a toe in the swirling waters of international currency and securities trading; he has been witness to the sinister workings of manipulation and power-playing; and he has travelled the world. In fact, the idea of The Death That Wasn't was hatched while he was bumping around in a four-wheel-drive over the sand dunes of the Namibian desert. A talented wood-sculptor, he has always enjoyed bringing creativity and lateral thinking to problem solving. He was aged 28 when he wrote his first unpublished novel, a topical political thriller set in Apartheid-era South Africa. So for him, fiction-writing is an absolutely logical channel for his wide-ranging creativity and imagination. He emigrated to Australia in 1987, and for the next 15 years he managed and wrote reviews for a business magazine that he started. He now lives on Sydney's North Shore, where he is working on his next novel, centred around a dysfunctional family.
