Life after the apocalypse is supposed to be simple.
World collapse is absolutely bad news. A disaster of the worst order, generated by the rise of engineered mutants who created an autocracy with the sole purpose of trampling on humans. Inevitably, the world is filled with so many injustices you lose track when counting them on your fingers. Humans are also said to be extinct. And mutants are supposedly oppressors, never victims. Oh, and mutants are never out to get each other, only humans. In short, there can be a lot of assumptions about the distant future.

The one thing that is certain, though, is that this bleak future world has a generous helping of social inequality. In a pair of novelettes, two girls (Lucy a human and Alyce a mutant) find themselves tangled up with the rich and famous of the millennium following ours. Lucy is a bubbly and reckless girl who befriends every boy she meets, and Alyce is patient and tolerant to an extreme. But Lucy has a little nefarious scheme up her sleeve and Alyce, it seems, does have a limit to her patience after someone tries to kill her simply for being related to someone else.

I mean, who wouldn't get annoyed by that?

Autorenporträt
Books for younger readers from 13-18. Can be enjoyed by readers 19 and up until death (the sky is the limit as long as you are still alive), assuming you retain enough sense of humor to keep up with the younger audiences. Sometimes adults get slow and cranky. If you are one of them, you might find the pace fast, snappy, and loaded with rapid plot twists and dialogue you're actually supposed to read, but everyone else should give my books a try.

Author Bio

And that just about covers my books. What about myself? Well, I am a farm girl who lives in rural Texas, surrounded by big blue skies, cornfields, and winding gravel roads. After avidly reading every young adult book I could find, including classics like Louisa May Alcott and J.R.R. Tolkien, I took to writing without thinking twice about it. I've published 8 Teen fiction titles and I alternate between writing realistic family dramas and historical adventures, with a dose of science fiction that sprang up on its own and fits neatly somewhere in between the other two. And I was for 8 years--one for each book!--the devoted fan (as she'd undoubtedly have put it) of our family's beloved, blind Pomeranian. She has now passed on, but I still love Pomeranians. If you're a Pomeranian's person--you know what unique and deeply lovable dogs they are. You just know.
