Produktbeschreibung
The title, 'Seeing with Fresh Eyes', reflects the Alexander Technique's emphasis on re-discovering our birthright, the 'natural good use of ourselves' that we had as young children, including seeing the world afresh. Pieces of creative writing extend the frame of reference for the Technique, and for its close connections with the natural environment.

If I mention to people that I am an Alexander teacher they tend to shift their posture and sit up straight…..Many people find that Pilates and yoga, mindfulness and other body/mind techniques are more accessible and easier to understand.

This book offers an overview, a personal perspective, written to stimulate new interest in the unique character of the Technique and bring it more to life. It may inspire people to further explore this practice or even train as an Alexander teacher.

The Technique clarifies people's capacity to become more self-aware and involves quiet, skilled hands-on work with a teacher, which reflects people back to themselves; they may say they feel witnessed at a deep level, akin to some forms of counselling.

Autorenporträt
Gentian Rahtz BA Hons, M Ed, STAT (Cert) At Hull University I was involved with the thriving poetry and arts scene, supported by the Chief Librarian, Philip Larkin, and I became one of the Hull poets. I completed an M Ed in Art Education in 1981 at Manchester University and worked for the Open University for twelve years, teaching a ground-breaking, multi-media course in basic creative processes called 'Art and Environment'. A collection of my poems, 'Sky Burial', was published by The Flux Gallery Press in 2010. I qualified as an Alexander Technique teacher in 1990, from the three-year training course at Fellside School in Kendal, UK, directed by Don Burton, and later, also trained as a cranio- sacral therapist. I have taught Alexander in a variety of contexts, including York University music department, for over thirty years, and also attempt to play the shakuhachi, a Japanese bamboo flute. My son, who works as an interpreter, has taken some of the photographs for 'Seeing with Fresh Eyes.'
