Autorenporträt
In 1995, Charles Everick West, a.k.a. C. West, was introduced to friend and mentor Martina Dunford, who was the supervisor and head teacher of the Edgemont Community Center after school program in Durham, North Carolina. Mr. C. West assisted Ms. Dunford and quickly learned that he had a very special gift with tutoring extremely gifted children with special needs from pre-K-12 grade. After working with Dunford, West continued his studies for special needs children at Fayetteville Technical College and was hired as a teacher's aide at Margaret Willis Elementary in Fayetteville, North Carolina. From 1998 to 2000, Mr. C. West continued his studies at Ashworth College in Norcross, Georgia, and graduated with honors in the Instructional Teachers program while working four years with BED self-contained high school students 9-12 grade and also special needs students with BED, ADD, ADHD, ED, verbal and nonverbal autistic students from first to fifth grade. Mr. C. West's greatest inspiration is reading to his students and having his students respond to each book that is read to them. He teaches his students how to point out each detail in each of their favorite character from each story line. From 2000 to 2012, Mr. C. West continues to help educate children with special needs from first to fifth grade. In 2010, Mr. C. West created the characters Ice Cream and Honey Buns by first recording a theme song for the main two characters, which is now sold on iTunes, CD Baby, and Amazon. This is Mr. C. West's first collection of his children's books. Mr. C. West was deeply inspired to write these books for each student he was able to help educate in his eighteen years of service to them and their head teachers in the city schools and public county schools.
