This book includes interviews with experts in the field of TBI including the infamous Dr. Julian Bailes, well-known for advancing the understanding of the clinical evidence of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a progressive degenerative disease found in some individuals who have sustained multiple concussions. Dr. Bales was featured in the movie "concussion "by Alex Baldwin. He served as a sideline physician for the NCAA and/or NFL for 22 years and is a founding member of the brain injury research Institute. This book includes personal stories of athletes that of suffered head trauma including NFL players, college soccer players, cheerleaders, wrestlers, and bicyclists. It includes an interview of a mother of a football player who died of second impact syndrome, a father whose son was riding his bike without a helmet and suffered severe head trauma in an interview with the former US Olympic director of sports medicine and football helmet reconditioning specialist. I also provide personal experiences dealing with athletes with head trauma as I pursue avenues to find safer ways to help athletes participate in the sporting events that they love while striving every day to make a difference for future generations.

Dr. Kelly Roush is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician, Certified Athletic Trainer, and has served as Director of Sports Medicine at a multidisciplinary hospital for over 20 years. Dr. Roush has hospital privileges at 2 hospitals and is a clinical associate professor at both Ohio University and Marshall University. Dr. Roush has served as a team physician for 22 years and has treated athletes at all levels, including Olympic athletes, NFL players, college athletes, pro baseball players, rugy players, semipro hockey players, high school athletes, and younger kids. She is driven and fervent when it comes to providing the best care possible for athletes. Dr. Roush is extremely passionate about sports as she played volleyball, basketball, softball and cheered in high school and received a full collegiate scholarship to play volleyball. She also played volleyball in Europe for a US continental team. Dr. Roush speaks both locally and nationally at conferences on the topic of concussion and neck trauma. She provided professional testimony and was instrumental in helping design the concussion laws for multiple states and was awarded the professional achievement award by the Ohio House of Representatives in 2011. She served on the Ohio State chiropractic board from 2017 - 2019. Dr. Roush is happily married with two children. Dr. Roush loves spending time with her family and serving God. Serving as a sports physician is much more than a career: It is where her heart lies. Dr. Roush loves providing healthcare for the athletes she serves, and the sports arena is her mission field.
