During that period, he earned Eagle Scout status, as well as God and Country and Order of the Arrow awards from the BSA. In high school, Ed's poetry and short stories were regularly published in the school newspaper and he became manager of the school's first radio station. Ed attended Eastern Washington University from 71-75, graduating with a BA degree in Journalism/Radio/TV. He became the university's first sophomore editor of the campus newspaper.Out of college, Ed worked for KREM-FM in Spokane as a radio announcer, taught at Ron Bailey School of Broadcasting and as a graphic artist and writer for Dick Wright Public Relations. He joined American Sign and Indicator in Spokane in 1976 and ascended from assistant copywriter to advertising and marketing manager for the firm. In 1980, he began his own firm, Creative Consultants, which worked with a variety of local, regional and national firms, until he retired in 2011. Ed was encouraged to publish a collection of poems he had written between the ages of fifteen to twenty-one called Colors of My Within in 2011. Since then, he has written four additional poetry books - New Hues and Past Tales, The Totem, Walla Walla Sweet and Sip & Savor. He also enjoys writing songs and became a lyricist and music producer in 2015 with his musical partner, John Rigg. The duo released four Robot Raven albums. In 2022, Ed worked with a talented musician from Italy, Michele Zara and created Sunflower 69 by Whistlewit - an homage to the music of the late '60's and early '70's. A country album by The Cow Cats will be released in 2023.
