Jabari was born into a Jamaican family and raised in Miami, Florida. Jabari has battled many challenges that most children wouldn't be able to survive. Because of the unexpected outcomes, he can be described as a miracle child. Throughout his life, the number two always seems to be part of the equation when reflecting on his childhood experiences. One occurrence of the number two is when he failed twice in a nursing program. Another distinct example of how the number two revealed itself in life is when Jabari was blessed to be given a second father in life because his biological father died of cancer when he was nine years old. Most importantly, Jabari was given a second chance at life which is when the number two was first evident. He was declared brain dead after surviving a month-long coma. These are just a few, but there are many other examples of two being Jabari's number. Despite the challenges crippling Jabari as a child, he did not let them define his adulthood. As a child, he struggled with learning disabilities because of a car accident. In addition, the conflict of the Jamaican and American cultures made it more difficult for Jabari to attend school in Miami, Florida. The dynamic of the Jamaican household and cultural upbringing clashed with the way of life in South Florida adolescents. The more Jabari tried to fit in with his peers, the more he felt like an outcast. He was labeled as slow and incapable of ever getting anything right; they referred to him as "Can't Get Right."Currently, he holds four degrees; two of which are bachelors. He is the only of twelve siblings that graduated college. With a strong work ethic and determination, he did whatever it took to overcome life's obstacles. Jabari has transformed his tragedies into standup comedy as encouragement for himself and others. This new outlook helped because he was able to continue his education and pursue nursing degrees.Nobody gave him a break in nursing school but with drive and determination; as well as a team of people who believed in him, he overcame his disabilities. Now that he has the medical knowledge along with experience, he wants to give back to less fortunate minority groups that don't have access to this information, particularly African Americans. The company's goal is to provide resources for a disease management plan, education, and a team to provide treatment alternatives. Jabari is living proof that you can achieve anything you set your mind to as long as you put forth consistent effort.
