Felicity needs a break - from school, from her family, from her boyfriend, Jake, who just told her he's gay. With a surprise inheritance, and against her mother's wishes, Felicity takes a year off from college and moves to Maine with her sketch books, art supplies, and a dream journal, a gift from her psychiatrist father. Felicity begins to have interesting dreams: of a dying witch, who rips her most precious spell in half - a spell that had been passed down to her from the beginning of time, leaving one half to each of her two quarreling daughters. The tear in the spell ripples back in time, magnifying until a gaping hole exists in the fabric of the Universe at its very beginning. Pure Evil, personified into the form of an old woman, unlike any evil which has existed in our universe before, steps through and disappears into the deep dark emptiness. Felicity's dreams take her to Singing Stone, one of the sister's secret land, hidden by magic. She learns along with the witch's apprentices the magic of transport, herbal medicine, and shape-shifting. She learns how to read tarot cards and when she visits a local occult shop is surprised to find the very deck from her dreams. Felicity sees the old woman arrive at Singing Stone, causing chaos and death, and capturing Zadia. Felicity follows as one apprentice escapes to Zadia's sister Gabriella's beautiful herb farm. Felicity's dreams become more real as she begins "conscious dreaming," interacting with the characters and becoming part of the dream itself. Felicity's dreams take a dark turn, and when she wakes with half the spell clutched in her hand she realizes dreams and reality aren't as they seem. It's up to Felicity to help the sisters repair the fabric of time, if it isn't too late.
