Mary Browning is a freelance writer and professional genealogist with decades of experience in chronicling the history of the North Carolina Piedmont. In addition to her column in the Greensboro News & Record, she edited the Guilford Genealogist for 12 years and currently serves as a commissioner for the Guilford County Historic Preservation Commission. She is a member and former board member of the Historic Jamestown Society, the Guilford County Genealogical Society, and the High Point Historical Museum.
