Autorenporträt
Donna Gene grew up on a small farm outside of Elsie, Michigan. She treasured her life on the farm. She had a large extended family, which she often visited. After graduating from Elsie High School, she attended Business School in Lansing, for secretarial training. When her job got eliminated after WWII ended, she headed to Michigan State College. There she met her husband to be Roman Stankey. Once married, they moved to Roman's family farm outside of Wayland, Michigan. There she birthed eight children. Her passion for reading and writing took her back to school at Western Michigan University, where she minored in English. Her professors encouraged her to write. The love she had for her family history prompted her to write the stories she heard many times as a child and adult. This way she would preserve the Setterington family history for her children and future generations.
