Produktbeschreibung
A non-fiction, historical biography, of the life of a nurse during the Civil War in Atlanta. Pauline D'Alvigny Campbell is the author's husband's third great grandmother. The book starts in the 1830's in Charleston, and takes you through the War. It mentions Pauline's father, who was Dr. Noel D'Alvigny, of French descent and a promiment doctor in Atlanta. Dr. D'Alvigny is known to be the role model for Dr. Meade in "Gone With the Wind". It includes' Pauline's true personal account (in bold throughout) as she was an Atlanta civilian, as she tells of barely surviving the shelling of Atlanta by Sherman's forces. In July of 1864 she was forced to leave her family farm near Peachtree Creek, with her three children, and she ultimately served as a matron of the Atlanta Medical College Hospital near Barnesville. Weaving in and out of the past, it tells of Pauline's story and that of her husband Robert's troop movements, including related modern day events from the author's perspective. Both Civil War re-enactors, Julie and Rick Clarke were extras in a TV series on historical rural churches in Georgia, broadcast in 2017 and 2022, locally. Length approximately 132 pages, including B&W photos.
