Gail Sheehy was the author of seventeen books, including bestsellers The Silent Passage, New Passages, Understanding Men's Passages, Sex and the Seasoned Woman, and her landmark book, Passages: Predictable Crises of Adult Life, first published in 1976. These explorations of the stages of adulthood have helped millions of readers worldwide. A contributing editor to Vanity Fair and Newsweek's The Daily Beast, Gail was one of the original new journalists spawned by New York magazine under her husband, Clay Felker.
