He has published numerous reviews and articles on contemporary Canadian art as well as a number of exhibition catalogues. He is author of Painting Place: The Life and Work of David B. Milne (1996), two books on Christopher Pratt (1982, 1995), contributed to a volume on Jack Bush, and, with the late Harold Town, coauthored Tom Thomson: The Silence and the Storm (1977, 3rd edition 1989).
