Autorenporträt
Fiona Summerville is a big city, Southern California girl transplanted to a small town in Texas, where she readily indulges her penchant for making things up and scribbling them down. She has two volumes of poetry currently published - Only Dark Around the Edges and Typos and All - and is working on another to be released later this year. Before deciding to chase down her dream of being a writer, Fiona made her way through the legal and corporate worlds in stilettos and pencil skirts, as both a Legal and Executive Assistant. Each career was fulfilling in its own unique way, but the call of her muses finally won out, and once she settled in Texas, she began writing in earnest. A voracious reader, she cites Daphne Du Maurier as an early influence, and Neil Gaiman as a more current, still breathing, inspiration. This love of reading from an early age made her the lover of words she is today, and while she has always been a great fan of all forms of writing, she never thought herself concise enough to contemplate writing poetry. It wasn't until she and her family were faced with series of serious medical crises that the Poet Muse emerged. Her first two books, Only Dark Around the Edges and Typos and All are collection of the poetry, prose, quotes and short stories that resulted from letting her Poet Muse run free. And she is currently working on a third collection of short fiction and a historical novel both inspired by the mysterious beauty, and lush history of North Carolina's Outer Banks. When she isn't writing, Fiona can be found out with her horses, or sipping a glass of wine while getting lost in a novel, or collection of poetry penned by one of her many favorite writers.
