Born in 1956, Dr. David Del Bosque grew up in Alice, Texas. >His 34 years at the high school/district level found him in the classroom teaching and coaching baseball, all while serving as principal at St. John Catholic High School in Ennis, Texas from 1985-1994. For 25 years, he was at Avalon ISD in Avalon, Texas, beginning as a teacher and baseball coach and then moving on to Director of Special Programs, high school principal, Associate Superintendent and, ultimately Superintendent of the district. He served as the 7th Superintendent of Avalon ISD for 17 years before retiring in 2019 after a 38-year career in education. Dr. Del Bosque served on the board of trustees of the Ellis County Shared Services Cooperative as superintendent of Avalon ISD. He was the Region X representative for Texas Association of Rural Schools. Earning his doctorate degree from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 2011, the subject of his dissertation was "The Effect of Texas House Bill 3646 on Texas Public School Funding Equity." He and his wife, Neva, make their home in Ennis, Texas.
