Autorenporträt

In designing his plots, James Babcock draws on a forty-year career in finance that included responsibilities in almost every phase of international and domestic banking. With Citibank in South America he was an auditor, foreign exchange trader, personnel director, and branch manager. In Belgium he served as Chairman and CEO of Financia NV, a Citibank subsidiary engaged in banking, savings, auto finance, mortgage lending, and credit insurance. With First Virginia Banks he was the holding company's SVP for non-banking subsidiaries, manager of operations and marketing for the lead bank, and Chairman and CEO of its Hampton Roads banking subsidiary, where he supervised commercial and consumer lending, trust services, and branch operations. He served three years in the U.S. Navy as supply and disbursing officer of a destroyer. He holds a BA from Princeton University and an MBA from the Wharton School of Finance. He served as Rector of Old Dominion University, President of the Virginia Symphony, Chairman of Future of Hampton Roads, Inc., and Chairman of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce. In addition to his novels, his creative work includes a number of pieces for violin and several geography teaching guides based on flags. He and his wife reside in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
