Autorenporträt
Aurin Squire is a New York playwright, screenwriter, and reporter. He is a two-time recipient of the Lecomte du Nouy Prize from Lincoln Center. In 2014-2015 he has fellowships at The Dramatists Guild of America, National Black Theatre, and Brooklyn Arts Exchange. Squire is the winner of the Act One Writing Contest at Lincoln Center Theatre. His plays include The Great Black Sambo Machine (Lincoln Centre Lab and Ars Nova), To Whom It May Concern (Abingdon Theatre and ArcLight Theatre productions), and African Americana (Theatre503). Last year his drama Freefalling (Barrington Stages) won the Fiat Lux Prize from the New York Catholic Church as well as 2014 first prize in the InspiraTO Theatre International Play Festival in Toronto. As a screenwriter, he adapted the novel Velocity into a screenplay for indie film company, Moxie Picture. He also wrote the multimedia short film on Jewish immigrants coming to America, Dreams of Freedom. Dreams won three national museum awards and is a permanent exhibit at the National Museum of American Jewish History. Currently, Squire has a Lila Acheson Wallace American Playwrights Fellowship at The Juilliard School.
