This is why I wanted to become a poet: ever since I read all of Edgar Allen Poe's short stories and poems, I knew that I wanted to be like him. The way that he expresses himself in writing made me think that I could too. When I started out writing, it was because I was sad and depressed. Dealing with my home life, I found a way to cope. Poetry opened my heart and mind to express what I feel and felt. I would write poems about what I wanted out of love and how I dealt with love and pain.
