Carol Campbell grew up in newspapers. Her parents were journalists on The Star in Johannesburg and she worked on The Mercury in Durban and The Argus and the Cape Times in Cape Town. This book about the karretjiemense was written while she and her husband were running a petrol station in Prince Albert. She currently lives in Durban with her family.
