Luke Hassett bogs his ute and needs help. He finds a farm house and meets Lindsey Hamilton, a petite, feisty, arts student, who's based in Sydney during the week. He also meets her mother, Heather, an out-and-out beauty, and Seb, a hulking Serbian gypsy - playful, wise yet foolish - who drops in to 'see' Heather from time to time.

Luke and Lindsey somehow hit it off, though Lindsey's got it over him, talking Shakespeare and the like as she questions his intentions and sexual prowess. Dealing with Heather's fanciful tendencies and her take on life doesn't help Luke either. 'You did what with who?'

Luke needs to get a grip of reality - and Lindsey. But can he trust his instincts, his sense of worth?

Edward Gordon was raised on a sheep station outside of Trangie, western New South Wales, where he unearthed a desire to write during 'slow times' on the land. He has travelled Australia and abroad, working as a fruit picker, rouseabout, waiter, removalist, gardener, labourer, salesman, ESL teacher, massage therapist and a farmer among other things. He is currently teaching secondary English. In 2006, he published "Turned Skyward".
