Krisstina Gowin, D.O. is an academic hematologist with specialized training in integrative medicine. "Cancer care is as unique as the individual," says Dr. Gowin, "I strive to provide evidenced-based cancer therapy that is personalized and addresses all aspects of the patient, including the body, mind and spirit." Dr. Gowin graduated from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2009, where she received a merit scholarship and recognition from the American Women's Medical Association for outstanding academic achievement. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Southern California, where she began her research in myeloproliferative neoplasms. She then received her hematology and medical oncology training at Mayo Clinic in Arizona where she continued her work advancing the care and quality of life in patients with myeloproliferative neoplasms with Ruben Mesa, M.D. Dr. Gowin is passionate about integrative medicine and is committed to supporting patients throughout their journey. In 2017, she completed her fellowship training in integrative medicine at the University of Arizona. She is currently Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Department of Hematology at the University of Arizona, with a focus on myeloproliferative neoplasms, plasma cell dyscrasias, and integrative oncology. "The future of oncology is integrative oncology," says Dr. Gowin, "A philosophy employing evidenced-based modern oncology in conjunction with the best of complementary therapies. I am passionate about research and education to move the field forward, and I am convinced that this wellness-based approach will lead to better disease outcomes and happier, healthier patients overall."
