Tom had a good life. Then, he had a bad stroke. At the pinnacle of his career, he lost his home, his business, his wife, and his dog. He lost himself.

Before the fall, Tom was an early social media pioneer. He helped blue chip brands articulate their true identities through his proprietary Social Archetyping(TM) system based on the work of Carl Jung. Drawing from the wisdom of ancient philosophers and influenced by mathematicians, artists, and psychologists, Social Archetyping is an operating system, a human compass, and a path to authenticity. After his stroke, Tom used the system on himself. This book is the result.

Identity is fragile. No one teaches us how to connect inwardly. We've become distracted by and addicted to technologies that were meant to set us free. Tom's been behind the data curtain, and he got lost. He can tell you with authority: it's dark back there.

Know Yourself: A Journey from Lost to Found is a memoir of Tom's trip through the darkness to find his true self. In it, he shares a personalized "GPS" to find the best route through the identity maze and offers the tools necessary to accept all that is "you" - the good and the bad, the shadow and the light. This book is an essential guide to finding out who you are, what you want, and what to do about it. Don't miss the opportunity to build a meaningful life.

Autorenporträt
Tom Troja is a lifelong creator and entrepreneur. He earned an M.A. from the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism and a B.A. from Boston University in History and Economics. He started his career as a cable television producer at CBS Cable and later, The Disney Channel, before moving on to Decker Communications, where he worked as a consultant for ten years. In 1998, Tom created and founded EmotionEngine.com. He developed a marketing performance system called emotional profiling that caught the attention of Yahoo and earned a $1M investment from Softbank-an investment that evaporated in the Dot Bomb. An early social media pioneer, he continued to develop and create "conversational marketing" and sales strategies for emerging social platforms and frequently spoke at iMedia Brand Summit, IAB Social, MITX and OMMA Social events on these topics. Continuing to experiment and innovate within the emerging social space, Tom founded Social Symphony in 2009 to create authentic, impactful social content for blue chip brands. Utilizing his propriety Social Archetyping(TM) (SA) system based on Carl Jung's 12 Archetypes, he drove social conversations for brands such as Jack Daniel's, Red Bull, Marriott Rewards, Chevron, Doubleday, and Western Union. In 2014, Tom suffered a massive stroke while on an airplane heading into JFK. In the aftermath, he lost it all: his business, his home, his wife, and his dog. The only way to make sense of his life was to harvest his own archetypes, just as he had with brands to articulate their identity. Tom wrote Know Yourself: A Journey from Lost to Found, as an exercise in neuroplasticity and to help others understand who they are. The journey has been his rehabilitation.Tom spent sixty years in Bronxville New York before relocating to the Blue Ridge Mountains in Charlottesville, Virginia. He has two grown children and a beautiful granddaughter. Know Yourself is his first book, built on the back of forty-five years of business and life.
