For the tall, bearded typist behind this book, known to those able to tolerate his presence as S. J. Saunders, life began in earnest when he discovered the power of stories. He then rather quickly began to delude himself into thinking he might be able to contribute to the narrative tapestry of humanity in some meaningful way, patching together tales as a child that were, for the sake of sparing a former young boy's feelings, less than functional literature. At present, he continues these efforts, hoping all the while that the words that spill from his mind are at least moderately less bad, these days. Anyway, he's married, somehow, and he lives in Oregon.
