Autorenporträt

Thomas Adam is Full Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Arkansas, USA. He is an historian by training who has extensively researched the tradition of philanthropy in Europe and North America from the Middle Ages to the present time. His publications include Philanthropy, Civil Society, and the State in German History, 1815-1989 (Camden House 2016), Transnational Philanthropy: The Mond Family's Support for Public Institutions in Western Europe from 1890 to 1938 (Palgrave Macmillan, 2016), and Buying Respectability: Philanthropy and Urban Society in Transnational Perspective, 1840s to 1930s (Indiana University Press 2009).
