Chirol was a prolific author who published multiple volumes on India, China, and Japan in addition to his journalism. His best-known book, "Indian Unrest," examines the reasons behind and effects of the Indian nationalist movement. In 1912, Chirol received a knighthood for his contributions to journalism. He was also a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. He is still regarded as a significant figure in the history of British journalism and foreign policy, and his contributions are still examined and discussed today.
