Bertrand Russell was a famous and prolific philosopher, logician, and mathematician who is known to have written on every major philosophical field except aesthetics. Russell won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1950, and is referred to as one of the major thinkers of the twentieth century and one of the founders of analytic philosophy. Bertrand Russell's works had a marked influence on mathematics, logic, theorizing, linguistics and especially on philosophy, language, epistemology and metaphysics. Russell spent the 1950s and 1960s serving various political causes, specifically nuclear disarmament and opposition to the war in Vietnam. The Russell-Einstein Manifesto of 1955 was a document calling for the disarmament of nuclear weapons and signed by 11 of the most prominent nuclear scientists and thinkers.
