Autorenporträt
Retirement....RETIREMENT??? It wasn't even a word in her vocabulary. After over 30 years in education and media, Muriel Ryan was not about to hang up her working clothes and sit in a lounge chair. But what God, she pleaded, WHAT am I suppose to do? After weeks of prayer and meditation, God spoke to her as He spoke to Daniel, Jacob and Paul. In a dream she saw her work in home missions as taking in the stranger. Working with the homeless since 2007, she remains a student of God's and the systems of poverty. But as this book reveals some lessons were different than she expected.

With her husband, Dr. Bernard Ryan, also known as "the other Dr. Ryan", Families By Choice calls persons to live lives that honor God by living by choice rather than chance. Families By Choice serves persons with basic needs (food, clothing, and shelter) who are at a distance from their family of origin either geographically or emotionally. With three specialized shelters presently open, the next task is to open a walk in program for those who need an address to get mail, a place to shower, laundry access and phone privileges for those who have not yet come into a shelter. Presently, the number of those needing such services in Terre Haute, Indiana is about 140.

All proceeds from Dr. Ryan's books and speaking engagements go to the work and expansion of God's Love through the work of Families By Choice.
