All of us are familiar with Moroni's promise that Christ will manifest the truth of the Book of Mormon to us by the power of the Holy Ghost. This is just one of many promises the Lord has made regarding the Book of Mormon. Bill Wylson outlines 31 of these promises in this volume, with their attendant blessings and conditions. This is a partial list of all the Lord promises us through the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is not just a witness to the divinity of Jesus Christ, but a transformative force in our lives. It is also a witness to the truthfulness of the Bible. Its specific purpose is to reveal the great things the Lord has done for us. It brings us to a knowledge of our Savior through the testimony of the early inhabitants of the Americas. It has restored the plain and precious truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ lost to the world.

Most importantly, The Book of Mormon will prepare the faithful for the second coming of Jesus Christ and his millennial reign. The Book of Mormon was not only given by the voice of the Lord through revelation, but it also allows us to hear his voice as we delve into its pages. It renews in our hearts a profound feeling of peace and love manifest through the Spirit. Its promises are not imaginary inferences. They are, instead, precisely what Joseph Smith meant when he declared that the Book of Mormon would draw us nearer to God. The promises made in the Book of Mormon focus on matters about the kingdom of God. James advises those who seek wisdom to "ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." The promises revealed through the Book of Mormon offer us the marvels of eternity. One purpose for our earthly existence is to learn to walk by faith. As we learn to develop our powers of faith in Christ, God will not allow our faith to go unanswered. We are promised that evidence and witnesses will "follow them that believe." Everyone who reads the Book of Mormon with a pure heart and a desire to know its truthfulness can hear the sweet whisperings of the Holy Spirit. The Lord promises us a "more sure witness" of the truth of these things borne of the Holy Ghost. "It is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth." The most effective way to discover truth in the spiritual realm is to ask God. "Ask, and it shall be given you." These promises are not just words but a firm assurance of the Lord's love and guidance in our lives.
