Hopefully this book was in the welcome bag (deployment backpack) you received from your school district. It contains many things superintendents would share if they had the time for a sit-down with you. Imagine how much more equipped you'd feel as a first-year teacher after hearing a 27 year classroom veteran pour out his heart over coffee. Essentially, that's what this book is. Commit a couple of hours to join me for coffee. I'll do all the talking, while you sit with your beverage and soak it all in. You'll come away with anecdotes and strategies for exciting the unexcitable child, relating to every student, gifting kids with your story, enabling students to see themselves as "light", finding a successful balance between pride and contentment, and so much more! Even if this isn't your inaugural year in the classroom, From The Front Lines has keys to unlock what's been mysterious to you about the next level of teaching. Parents, don't feel left out. I've raised kids of my own, and I speak from the point of view of a parent and teacher in this book. Reading this can help you strengthen your relationship with your child's teacher. Not a teacher? Not a parent? So what - it really doesn't matter because we're all challenged to be multi-dimensional. People defined by only one label are now extinct. The contents of this book will help anyone feel empowered when tapped to put on the teacher helmet.

Autorenporträt
Growing up with five siblings, I learned the importance of sharing. We shared everything - food, clothes, shoes, money, cars, and information. The team captains (mom, dad, and oldest sister) have passed on, but the five of us who remain yet have each other. I've come to realize that because of my family community, I've never been alone. There are so many people trekking this life alone, without the feeling of connectivity. To this day, when my siblings choose to share information with me, I have no doubt it's from a sincere place of love and compassion. They want me to succeed! So, I'm "throwing my hat in the ring'. Instead of packing up my classroom and vanishing silently into retirement, I've decided to pay it forward. As you turn the pages, I hope a kindred spirit connection occurs, and you adopt me as an honorary sibling.Born and raised in Kansas City Kansas, John David McConnell received his Bachelor of Science degree at Saint Mary College in Leavenworth, Kansas.
