Flickering Lights is a collection of poems about refugee character. The author has been a friend of the Karen people (from Burma) for several years. Their struggle for peace and freedom, rarely mentioned in the media, has been long and continues. Many Karen have been cruelly treated and displaced from their villages. Some have moved to border camps and others have recently resettled in Australia, the USA and other Western countries. These poems trace this journey, focusing on a people's amazing inner strength, loyalty and rich culture in the face of oppression.
