Al -Faggala is a name for a street and a region in Cairo, and it is the first place for the trade of books and written papers not only in the Egyptian capital, but also in all of Egypt (). This book was written beginning as a card that the writer read in the Coptic Reform Society on the fifth of November 1918, then the writer decided, after the attendees, to publish what he wrote in this book. This book deals with a brief description of the "Al -Faggala" beard in "Old Cairo", with the experiences of this neighborhood rich in intellectual, historical and religious pluralism, which added to its streets and alleys what the visitor sees of diversity in the buildings and tourism and aesthetic facilities of this neighborhood. It was the focus of attention and attention of the Muslim caliphs and leaders since the emergence of the Islamic conquest in Egypt, so they started the construction of palaces and buildings of a distinctive engineering nature, in addition to establishing orchards and gardens of a single aesthetic nature, except for the presence of churches, libraries, schools and intellectual cafes, which resulted in a special historical, civilizational and aesthetic heritage Visitors go to it to our time. As for historically, the writer displays the most important events that stormed Al -Faggala, the first battles between Muslims and the Romans occurred in the seventh century AD. Then the writer elaborates to explain the features of life in the neighborhood in the shadow of the Islamic conquest, the era of the Fatimid state, and during the French campaign against Egypt and the situation that was divided into Al -Fagla Street into three sections: Al -Fagla Street, the old Al -Faggala, and the modern Al -Faggala, citing the description of the historian Abdul Rahman Al -Jabarti to the neighborhood.
