Autorenporträt
Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1923 to first and second generation Jewish immigrants, Harvard scholar Mitchell Goodman was at college when the U.S. entered World War II. He subsequently trained as a Second Lieutenant forward observer in an artillery battalion and then traveled to Europe following the war, where he married and briefly lived in France and Italy before moving to Greenwich Village in 1948.
