David Pickell is the author of Between the Tides, an exploration of the life and culture of the traditional tribesmen of Indonesian New Guinea's South Coast, and is currently at work on a book about Komodo. He is a writer, editor, and cartographer, and has been diving for 29 years. He lives in Berkeley, California.

Wally Siagian is one of Indonesia's sport diving pioneers. He first dove Bali in the 1970s and his long-term knowledge of the island's reefs is unmatched by anyone working today. Originally from Bandung, he moved with his family to Bali in the 1980s and has been guiding divers--chiefly scientists and photographers--for more than three decades.
