One of the most prominent and influential thinkers of his day, Leibniz made extraordinary discoveries in the fields of - among others- philosophy, politics, theology, history, philology, law and politics. A seeming autodidact, Leibniz authored tens of thousands of letters and manuscripts on such disparate topics as physics, biology, geology and computer science. Several theories he postulated during his lifetime - primarily (but not exclusively) in mathematics and philosophy - were later proved to be decades, even centuries, ahead of their time.
