This book offers cross-national and longitudinal comparisons of democratic transition since 1900. Through these comparisons, the authors theoretically explore and quantitatively test the empirical relationship between transitional modes and democratic outcomes. A major contribution of this study is the creation of a cross-national dataset of all democratic transitioning states since 1900, which is accomplished through detailed case studies and cross-verification with widely renowned works on transitions. Sujian Guo is Distinguished Professor at Zhejiang University and Fudan University, and an academic committee member of Peking University-Fudan University-Jilin University Co-innovation Center for State Governance in China, and Professor in the Department of Political Science and Director of the Center for U.S.-China Policy Studies at San Francisco State University, U.S.A. Gary A. Stradiotto is Professorial Lecturer of Political Science at The George Washington University, U.S.A.
