Autorenporträt
Nina De La Mare is a holistic therapist and author of the fantasy book " Darion's Gifts' but this hasn't been her main career. In 1994, after finishing her degree in Biological Imaging, she completed a P.G.C.E to become a teacher. Initially Nina decide teaching wasn't for her. Instead she made roof tiles in a pottery, but the universe works in mysterious ways! The pottery burnt down whilst Nina was on a camping trip in Wales. She needed to work so she applied for a teaching position. During her first teaching job she discovered she was dyslexic. Some might see this as a disadvantage; however, Nina used her difficulties to help her gain insight into the minds of children. She adapted her teaching style, making learning accessible to all. Nina went on to specialise in working alongside children with Special Educational Needs. One of Nina's favourite ways to connect with her pupil's is through the art of telling stories. Spoken stories, she felt, encouraged more in dept thinking and discussion and children could relate on an emotional level. Because of Nina's ability to connect with children, she was a awarded a prestigious Millennium Fellowship to study peccaries in the Brazilin rainforest. On her return she worked with local communities setting up environmental groups.
