This is a multifaceted book that follows the author's journey from childhood beliefs into a career as a nurse. It recounts real situations and experiences of trauma and death on a regular basis. It looks at how the experiences ultimately affected her and how she was finally able to make peace with so many buried emotions. The journey to understanding and the acceptance that ultimately God is in control, took her back into these painful memories. In this journey she came to the realization that there were also many good memories, happy endings, miracles and some spiritual lessons to be learned along the way.

These lessons have made her thankful for all of the experiences, both good and bad. They have changed the way she looks at life. The most amazing part of this journey we call life is when you realize that the promise of Heaven is real.

Autorenporträt
Daryn Michaels is a Family Nurse Practitioner with a national certification from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She has a Master of Science Degree in Nursing and graduated with distinction at age fifty-one. Her nursing career, however, encompasses thirty years. She spent most of that time in the rural hospital setting. She spent five years as a flight nurse, also based in the rural area. She has worked in inpatient obstetrics, the emergency department, the intensive care unit, surgery, interventional radiology and the cardiac catheterization lab. The last years as a Nurse Practitioner have been spent taking care of patients in urgent care, family practice and pain management.

Daryn grew up in rural America, the oldest of four children. She has two brothers and one sister, and her parents still reside in her family home. She attended a rural school from kindergarten through her senior year. She graduated with twenty-three other students, and most of them she started Kindergarten with. Daryn attended the State University that was nearby for two semesters but did not have a plan for her future yet. She spent a few years working as a cosmetologist and taking a few college courses here and there. During this time, she also welcomed her first two sons into the world. It was not long after the birth of her second son that she applied for an associate degree nursing program. Two years later Daryn graduated with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing and passed the national nursing boards to become a Registered Nurse. This began her career as a nurse. It fell in love with her and then she fell in love with it. In fact, it became a passion for her.

Daryn continues to reside in rural America, not far from her childhood home. She has always considered herself a gypsy at heart but relates that her love of family has always brought her home. She is married to Douglas who maintains the helicopter for the local Air Medical Service. Her oldest son Caleb is a flight paramedic. He and his wife and daughter also reside locally. Her second son David is returning from South Korea after spending the last year there. He is a Technical Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He and his wife, son and daughter will be moving on to their next duty station filled with many changes for them all. They will be about a five-hour drive from Daryn and Doug which is ten hours closer than they have been for the last thirteen years. Daryn's third son Doug also lives about five hours away and is finishing his paramedic studies and plans to go on to medical school at some point. Taylor, Daryn's one and only favorite daughter, is currently working for a roofing and construction business and you might find her on the top of a roof somewhere. She lives about an hour away. Leo, the baby of the bunch, is taking classes at the local University. He is living between campus and home, because it is a two-minute drive and if the truth be known, he's hungry. He is coaching little league baseball and enjoys campus life and activities. Leo still has one foot in the door at home with Daryn and Douglas. Her grandchildren are the light of her life, and she enjoys the time she has with them.

Daryn's family is everything to her, and she enjoys spending her free time with them. She loves cooking with Douglas, biking, shooting, and playing golf. She and Douglas have logged many hours in stadium seats or folding chairs watching their children's sporting events. They look forward to digging them out to watch their grandchildren.
