Catherine Dubois Odyssey to Enchantment By Bonnie Jennings 'Joy to the world the Lord has come!' On the side, of an Appalachian mountain, sitting so cozy on a mountainside was a place called Glory Town. This was the quaint picturesque home of 'Cat Dubois,' whom at five years of age, moved with her family from Europe, to this heaven on Earth. Or, was it really? The year they arrived was 1957 and Cat grew from a child who was special - was gifted in a manner of healing, and intelligence. The townsfolk in Glory Town where Cat grew up were insanely jealous her. In chapter one, her best friend, her soulmate, Daniel Davis, who was a local pastor's son, was forced to leave Glory Town at eighteen years of age due to his sexual orientation. Cat defended and loved him. Later, She was orphaned, in her early twenties, which made her isolation worse and the public humiliation became more aggressive. Cat makes friends with demons and devils in her manor home. She finds affection and passion in their embraces while dressed in gothic gowns. The fiends are passionate and debonair seducers. She is unaware of her dilemma and trouble they cause. To add to the manors electric energies is a supernatural visitation from an apparition child who protects her in the manor home from the evil foes where she lives alone. She is unaware, but catches glances of the boy. She believes the brandy or wine perhaps causes her delusions. She begins to believe that she is deranged and psychotic. Strange friendly visitors come earlier in the story, and they foreshadow future events of goodness for her. However, she forgets the good promises they lend her and she later comes to the brink of suicide. Cat's story is to find self-love, and self acceptance. Help from the mystical side is her answer, but she must agree to their proposals of good health. She must believe in many new affirmative concepts about herself. This is her struggle.
