John Lavis has been writing all his life, as a teacher for his students, as a school Principal for his community and as a father for his children. Now retired he has written this memoir as a promise to his own father, Frank, on his death bed, that he would be the dutiful son and turn Frank's diaries into a book for the Lavis family. He was not to know the family secrets that would be revealed.
